We’re almost half way into the year already (can you believe it!?), so if your New Year’s travel resolutions to take that road trip or finally go on that skydive aren’t quite panning out as expected yet, it’s time to refresh your enthusiasm and achieve them before the year’s finished.

Here are some tips and advice on how to fast-track your travel resolutions for the rest of the year.

1. Go on a road-trip

Going on a road-trip is an excellent way to escape from the urban jungles most of us live in. To go on a road trip locally, as all you need is as little as a day or two. So start asking for that long weekend, or use one of those personal days you have saved up all these years now. Plan ahead, consider where exactly you want to go, eat, dine and stay. For a set of wheels, there are plenty of options when it comes to buying or renting used cars for the trip, and a simple search online can help you find the perfect vehicle (whether it’s a Jeep or a giant vintage convertible – we suggest road tripping in style and comfort!)

2. Considered America in winter?

A trip to the US of A is an essential rite of passage for any traveller. Exploring America’s key cities: Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York and San Francisco, to name a few – can be amazing in winter. The crowds are easier to endure; there are excellent pre-Christmas sales and unbelievable discounts on the world’s finest hotels, including the New York Palace. How can you make this happen? Get in touch with your local travel agent, and commit to a weekly saving plan.

3. Go skiing

Skiing is lots of fun but surveys have found that the many young people living in warmer climates have actually never been skiing or seen the snow! How can you make this happen? New Zealand offers some of the best deals internationally for skiing resorts and airfares with a great reputation for last-minute offers. Start saving now and invest in appropriate winter clothing for sub-zero temperatures at a local camping store. Most importantly, make sure you go with a group of people including at least one experienced skier!

4. Go on a skydive

A must on the hit-list of many a traveller, there’s no time like the present to make it happen! Whatever travel plans you have for the rest of the year, have a look online for companies that offer skydives in the city that you’ll be staying – Hawaii, the south coast of Australia and South Africa – are all reported to be amazing places over which to leap out of a plane!
