I think I should summarize all the budget hotels below USD30 that I have stayed in Bali and rate them accordingly to give you a better reference.

1. Hotel Puri Rai @ Padang Bai (http://www.puriraihotel.com/)

We spent a night at the best hotel, Puri Rai, in Padang Bai after the first day diving in Blue Lagoon. This is one of the best hotels that we stayed in Bali with very reasonable price and great hotel facilities.

Room Rates: Rp 275k per night

Facilities:

  • Three swimming Pools
  • Bar & restaurant
  • Laundry Service
  • 24 Doctor on Call
  • Mini library
  • Breakfast Included
  • Traditional massage
  • service Postal service
  • Money Exchanger
  • Airport pick up service
  • Tour Arrangement
  • Free parking area
  • Dive shop
  • Boat for Snorkling

Downside:
Our room water supply was cut off once but it was resumed immediately right after we reported it to the reception.

My Opinion:
Worth staying ^_^

2. Pondok Prima @ Sanur (http://www.primacottage.com/home.asp)

Pondok Prima was well-off the main road in Sanur. We were quite satisfied with the room and its cleanliness with the price of Rp 245k per night. There’s a pool with a restaurant next to it around a tropical garden. I kinda like it as it was well-maintained, quiet and peaceful.

Room Rates: Rp 245k per night

Facilities:

  • Fresh water swimming pool
  • Secure safety deposit boxes
  • Restaurant and bar for your breakfast or other meals with satellite TV and DVD
  • Transport / Tours / Tickets reconfirmation/ Leisure Room
  • Internet Services
  • Breakfast Included
  • Downside:
Since it was well-off the main road, we had to walk for about 10 mins to the beach to look for food and taxi. But you won’t be able to get this good deal with the hotels near to the beach. Furthermore, walking is a good work out for health also.

    My Opinion:
Worth staying ^_^. I like the young lady there who one leg kick as the receptionist, cook and cleaner.

    3. New Arena Hotel @ Kuta

The room was new, the swimming pool was huge, it looked like a 4 stars hotel with 2 stars price.

Room Rates: Rp 250k per night

    Facilities:

    • A pretty cool swimming pool with Bar
    • Bar & restaurant
    • Breakfast Included
    • Transport Arrangement
    • Tour Arrangement

    Downside:

We didn’t have any bad experience staying there except we were required to pay upfront when we checked in. That was the first time we had to pay upfront for any hotels that we have ever stayed. Besides, we also found quite a number of bad reviews about this hotel from TripAdvisor.

    My Opinion:
Not worth trying since many people had bad experience staying there.
