Most of us would think that as long as we master English, we will not have major problem when traveling from North Pole to South Pole, even people in Mongolia can speak basic English. But have we ever thought of language is not solely a channel to acquire information during travels? Being able to speak a few words of the local language allows us to assimilate into local culture which will lead to a more authentic and enjoyable travel experience. So I’m going to introduce Malaysian language today which will explain some basic greetings/phrases and the pronunciation tips, as well [...]

With thousands of kilometers of coastline, hundreds of nearby islands, as well as vast fertile lakes and rivers, seafood has become part of our daily meals. Malaysian seafood restaurants are available at almost every corner from water villages to the vibrant cities. I especially love the way the local restaurants prepare seafood, which they use plenty of herbs and spices. Salted egg crab is my favourite! Yummy! Situated at the northern part of the Borneo Island, two third of Sabah’s border is made up of coastal land which makes it a seafood paradise. During my trip to Kota Kinabalu, capital [...]

The hotel that we stayed during our trip in Kota Kinabalu, Eden 54, is located smack dab in the middle of Kota Kinabalu city, surrounded by three commercial banks and several tall buildings includes new Suria Sabah shopping mall. Amongst all high rise buildings and commercial lots, nothing captivated me more than a building ruins mysteriously exists in the heart of the vibrant city of Kota Kinabalu. Each time I walked from Hotel Eden 54 to any places in town, I had to pass by the ruins. A sudden impulse of curiosity sprang up in my mind each time I walked pass the ruins. “Is the [...]

We went to Kota Kinabalu 2 weeks ago to attend my friend’s wedding. As usual, the first online resource that I look for accommodation is always Tripadvisor. I usually refer to the top rating list based on the reviews given in Tripadvisor and narrow down my selection to the budget that I set. Most of the time the top rating hotels listed in Tripadvisor are the luxury hotels that cost a bomb, so I always have to scroll down the list to the less impressive hotel with less expensive rate. So I expected the same process when looking for hotels [...]

I know it’s an old news but I would still like to show my excitement. Finally… Malaysia is building an interesting theme park that is different from Sunway Theme Park and Genting Highland Theme Park. Quite sad, these are the only 2 existing theme parks that I could think of and both also I do not have interest of. They both do not have exciting rides! Anyway, the new theme park will be Asia’s first Legoland targets to open its doors at the end of 2012! It’s expected to attract 1.5 million visitors and I will be contributing to this [...]
