I blogged about my dive trip in Sipadan last year December, but solely on my diving activities. I decided to post some boring pictures that we took in Tawau harbour when we had nothing to do but waiting for our flight. This is SeaAdventure resort in Sipadan converted from oil rig. It’s located just few miles away from the Mabul Resort that we stayed in Sipadan. Looks cool huh? Before having our dinner in Tawau Seafood Restaurant, we wandered around Tawau town but seriously, there is nothing interesting in Tawau town. So we just sat at the harbour looking at [...]

xplI put the title as Tawau Seafood Paradise because the article in The Star newspaper said so, “everyone knows Sabah is a seafood paradise”. So I have to pretend that I know it too. After we checked out from Sipadan Island, it was too early to go to the air port, so we decided to get our dinner in Tawau. Without knowing where to go, the hotel driver dropped us at the Tawau town where there were few live seafood restaurants. We had no idea what’s the market price of the seafood so we couldn’t really tell whether the seafood [...]

It’s indeed very sad. I only have 3 photos that I seriously feel proud to show off. And 3 of them are actually the same object. Now that I feel a bit embarrassed to boast about my photos. But who cares, I earnestly love them. The photo below is of a pair of Clown Anemonefish (Amphiprion ocellaris) with their host anemone (probably Heteractis magnifica). To the untrained eye the anemone looks like a plant, but is actually an animal that hosts unicellular algae within its tentacles and oral disc. A portion of the sugars produced by these algae during photosynthesis [...]

There are several dive sites in Sipadan Island: We covered Barracuda Point, South Point, Sipadan Midreef, Turtle Patch and Hanging Gardens. I have blogged about Barracuda Point and South Point in my previous post so I will move on to the rest of the dive sites. The third day in Sipadan, we made our way to Midreef early in the morning. The boat took us to the southeast of Sipadan and we descended to 20m depth down the vertical wall that forms Sipidan Midreef, then we just drifted along with the current. The slopes around 20 to 30 meters offer [...]
