Fukuya Japanese Restaurant

My initial thoughts or rather the initial expectation was Don would take me to a romantic western cuisine restaurant for dinner on my birthday. Not sure for what reason I always relate birthday dinner, anniversary dinner, and whatever important couples dinner to Western cuisine. It was a bad day to drive last Thursday, 11 Dec–It was raining in Kuala Lumpur… It took me more than an hour to drive from my office which is located in Damansara Heights, to Don’s client office in KLCC. By the time I arrived, I was in a foul mood from waiting in traffic with the noise of the rain accompanying the drumplay of my stomach. I was extremely hungry. I had only had some pie with soup for lunch in Secret Recipe in order not to spoil my appetite for the dinner. Oh.. before I forget, hey Julian, thanks for lunch!!
It was already 8:00 p.m. when I arrived at KLCC. Even though the restaurant was just nearby, it took another half an hour to reach there.
Anyway, the layout of the restaurant immediately washed away my irritated mood. I was amazed with the courtyard which was surrounded by mock houses and corridors. It looked more like a spa and massage center than a restaurant. From the layout and interior design, I couldn’t tell what type of cuisine the restaurant offered. I couldn’t wait to find out more about this restaurant.
It was drizzling when I got out from the car. The waitress was already there holding an umbrella for me as if I would fall sick if I stood under the drizzle for another second. I thanked the waitress and walked passed a few mock houses to reach the main door of the restaurant.
The interior is very spacious with 2 different dining areas. We were led to the smaller dining area and given the seats next to a small garden. I love our seating location ^_^
When I saw the menu, I was even more excited, they serve Authentic Japanese Cuisine!! I love Japanese Cuisine and it’s always my first choice as I love healthy food, I love Sushi, I love Sashimi, I love green tea, I love miso soup, I love… ahh… too much to list down. I was just so delighted especially when having a late dinner, Japanese food is just perfect since it’s less oily, has less carbs and less grease! Don is so thoughtful and caring.
I ordered Ya, come with 2 soups and 5 seasonal dishes. Don ordered Gyokai Teppanyaki Set, come with seafood steak and sauteed vegetable served with appetizer, mushroom salads, mini tempura, pickles, rice miso soup and dessert.
While waiting for food, we were trying to give full scope to our photographic creativity. So we took a picture of the chopsticks. (hmm… how does it relate to creativity?)
We also took a picture of candles, tooth pick holder, and whatever you can see from the picture.
Creativity will become dull without a pretty woman, of course.
Before having enough fun, the food came. It was fast!! First dish was my appetizer. I love the 2 small fishes so much, it’s a new taste to me. Tastes a bit like lemon with mild sweetness in it. How should I describe it? Refreshing. Even though it sounds weird, but really refreshing :-p
Inside the wine glass are the duck livers. It tastes nice too.
Don’s mushroom salads. Don loves vege and salads, so he finished it so fast that I didn’t get to taste it at all
. Well, I guess I was just too engrossed in enjoying my soup. I miss you, salads ~~
The sashimi was served with vinegar. Very fresh and juicy.
Don is very satisfied.

I don’t usually comment on blogs but had to on yours. You have a very unique writing style. A lot of people don’t have that touch, they just drone on and on in the most boring way. But not you – thanks! I can’t wait to try out some of the recipes you have here (after a trip to the market to get the ingredients). Cooking is my favorite hobby. I don’t have time to read it all right now, I found this site when looking for something else on Google, but I’ve bookmarked your homepage and will check back soon to see the latest articles. Please bookmark my recipe web site at http://www.KAChef.com. Thanks again!
