Legoland and Iskandar Malaysia

I know it’s an old news but I would still like to show my excitement. Finally… Malaysia is building an interesting theme park that is different from Sunway Theme Park and Genting Highland Theme Park. Quite sad, these are the only 2 existing theme parks that I could think of and both  also I do not have interest of.  They both do not have exciting rides!

Anyway, the new theme park will be Asia’s first Legoland targets to open its doors at the end of 2012! It’s expected to attract 1.5 million visitors and I will be contributing to this number. Located in Nusa Cermelang industrial park, within the Iskandar New Economic Region, the theme park will boast the tallest lego model in the world.

Me: “I hope they will setup a bungee jump from the tallest lego building.”

Don: “It’s the tallest LEGO model, not the tallest BUILDING. And it’s not solid enough to support your weight!”

Me: “You don’t like joke, do you?”

“It would not be seen in competition with attractions that Singapore has, (which) deal with young adults-type of attractions. This is more family-based,” said Arlida Ariff, President/CEO of Iskandar Investment Berhad.

Even though there is widespread skepticism that Iskandar project might fail due to dearth of investors, businesses and visitors from Singapore, I really hope Iskandar project will turn out to be 100% successful and Johor will continue to flourish and prosper.

Just in case you haven’t known about Iskandar Malaysia Project, it’s termed “Malaysia’s Super Economic Corridor” costing over USD 100 billion and over two decades to build. This is one of the largest size economic development regions in Asia in recent history.

Embedded the video clip of the introduction of Legoland and Iskandar Project here to amaze you.

So come back to visit Malaysia in 2012!
