We visited around after the International Dragon Boat Festival. The man made lake was made like a beach just right in front of Pullman Hotel & Resort.

Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside was opened in March 2009, which is located right next to the convention centre.

The sand is fine and clean, it wasn’t too crowded, only a few families with kids having fun in the water.

Pullman Hotel & Resort is huge with 283 rooms. It is crafted to depict architecture and ambiances that are distinctively ethnic Malays, Chinese, Indian and of the Borneo continent.

It was so tranquil that I heard only the melody in the wind and the water. They might not have done enough promotion as we don’t see any guests at all in the hotel.

There is a restaurant built on the stilts with no customers at all.

The 400-hectare man-made lake at the heart of Putrajaya which serves as a climate moderator, has a Class 2B water quality graded by Interim National Water Quality Standards. It is suitable for national and international water sports events. Currently the lake offers activities such as canoeing, kayaking, sailing and boating.
This is the building of maritime which has just started operation.

Sailing courses are available here in Putrajaya lake. If you already know how to sail, you can rent the boat here and sail in the lake.

It’s indeed a nice and unique resort that requires more publicity.

  • Malaysian resorts are now world-class!
Located next to the lake, makes it feel like ‘floating” when viewed from a distance, huh?!

  • Shelyn says:

And it’s a man made lake! But too sad I don’t think many Malaysians know about it. Putrajaya is just like an abandoned modern city.

  • You know what? I haven’t been to Putrajaya!
So you’re my KL guide! ;-)

From Petaling Jaya to Putrajaya, we’ve come a long way! Ha ha…

To me Putrajaya is a government city. Typical Malaysians will look at Putrajaya as a place for civil servants. Nothing else.

Last year, I went there with a bunch of friends. We opt for a Belimbing Sightseeing Cruise package. My senior lady friend was criticizing Putrajaya non-stop from the moment she lay her bump on the boat. This buildinglah…that building lah…..ppl’s money…this and that…lol By the way. it was a nice cruising trip to explore Putrajaya from the lake.

Here is the link on the boat thingy:

I’ve added travel, living & bliss as my reading list. Good job Shelyn!!! Nice blog. One question…Is purple your favourite colour. I see PURPLE everywhere :)

    Cheers!

The thing about Putrajaya is that the government was trying to make it a garden city but apparently it failed to attract any visitors and it looks more like a dead city, so in other words, it wasted our money :p

Your senior lady friend reminds me of my bf. He complained non-stop also :p

I do like purple, but prefer blue. But I can’t find nice blue template and this is the best that I can find. haha…

Putrajaya is not dull after all…I’ve live there for abt 6 years now…the current population is at 75k and increasing….If u go during the days sometimes u can see bus loaded with tourists and local visitors will crowd putrajaya during school holidays.

Putrajaya -i dont think govt money is wasted…u can imagine now if all the govt dept in KL…think about the traffic jam…now every country is considering to centralize and moved their capital away due to overcrowding…see jakarta, philipines, S.Korea- Sejong ( new planned city),

Seriously one should consider putrajaya if she interested in green features…air is cleaner…less crime…no mat rempit…no snatch thieves…

    • Shelyn says:

      Hi Drezahar,

I go to Putrajaya Maritime Center almost every weekend for swimming. The swimming pool there is so clean and nice and most importantly, very quiet without crowd. I strongly agree it’s a very nice place with full facilities and nice buildings. My husband even got his sailing certificate from the Maritime Center in Putrajaya.

I hope the city will become more and more prosperous soon.

  • Sharon says:

Anyone know the Putrajaya Maritime Center swimming pool open to public or not? Or it limited to member only? It’s seem a good choice for me..haha.. Thanks.

  • KC says:

    Hi Shelyn,

is the swimming Olympic-size? same like the Putrajaya outdoor swimming pool?

    Length 50 m (164 ft)
    Width 25 m (82 ft)

    • Shelyn says:

      Hi KC,

Yes, it’s an Olympic-size swimming pool. But remember it’s actually inside the Maritime Center and it’s an indoor pool. There is an outdoor pool in Pullman resort as well but I have never been there. The crowd has been picking up though.

Maritime Center is just next to Pullman resort, walking distance.

      Cheers,
      Shelyn

  • Chrissaro says:

You know what, I am going there with my family after reading this…thanks, shall update after the visit this evening. Heard there is also an indoor swimming pool nearby?

    • Shelyn says:

      Hi Chris,

Yes, there is an indoor swimming pool. I used to swim there, it’s an awesome Olympic size swimming pool! Hope you enjoyed your evening with your family.
