Sipadan Island ~ The Dive Center

Posted on Nov 04 in Diving, Diving in Sipadan, Malaysia Exploration, Sipadanby ShelynPrintText Resizer Text Resizer

I had to walk to and fro from the room to the dive center several times a day just to maximize the dives in a day.

My diving schedule:
8 a.m. – Morning Dive
10 a.m. – Morning Dive
2:30 p.m. – Afternoon Dive
5 p.m. – Sunset Dive

4 dives a day for me, max.

My boyfriend, even ‘maxer’.

His schedule:
6 a.m. – Sunrise Dive
8 a.m. – Morning Dive
10 a.m. – Morning Dive
2:30 p.m. – Afternoon Dive
5 p.m. – Sunset Dive

He really dived to the max. Too bad he couldn’t do the night dive which required at least 3 divers and charged RM50 each! Or else I bet he will dive from dawn to moonrise.

This is our dive schedule. Eh… not right, my name is not there.
Oh… this was 26 Oct schedule, the last day to leave the island.
Yeah, no diving within 24 hours prior to taking flight.

This is the dive center with a big schedule board. Here where we checked the dive schedule everyday for the details of the time, dive point, divemaster, boat name and the boat man.

Here is where all the equipment stored.
Once we came back from the boat dive, we took off all our equipment and rinsed them in the big blue tanks.

While waiting for the next dive, we rested here with some snacks and drink.

My boyfriend as usual, being efficient and productive, he read the marine life books while recording his dive log.

Me as usual, being laid-back and lazy, I looked around to check on other people.
I wasn’t so worried about my dive log since I can always copy from my boyfriend. After all, our dives are the same.

Stealthily snapped a photo of this Japanese good looking dude.
No lah… I didn’t snap this photo just because he is good looking (he isn’t actually), I wanted to show you how many gears he was carrying!!
Look closely, a white color thingy was hanging on his clothes, few big cameras were on the stilts!

I found it quite fun to look at those Japanese divers. Oh… forgot to mention that there was a big group of Japanese divers looked very professional with damn cool wetsuits. And each of them carried a huge professional camera with 3 spotlights on each camera!!

3 spotlights! Not flashlight! And Not One!
My rented camera doesn’t even have a single spotlight.

Close-up on their giant cameras.

Their wetsuits caught my eye too. Pink, light green, light blue, light yellow, all cool colors that you can name it.

I still remember how much time I have spent to look for a nice wetsuit for myself but MOST of the wetsuits sold in Malaysia are just so… plain. All black colors, or maybe with some blue color straps. If you insist to look for an outstanding wetsuit, maybe try the highlighter yellow straps wetsuits. -_-”

I was stealthily snapping a photo of these Japanese divers then suddenly this Japanese girl waved at me. (you sure she was waving to you???)

See… her wetsuit cool huh? Matched with pink color fins too.

After having enough fun looking at others, we got ourselves ready on the bench.

Time to depart again.

The only nice weather day. The rest of the days were just raining.
Rained and rained and rained. I hate raining so much, it was just too cold to take.
Luckily raining didn’t stop anyone from diving :-)

  • Have you ever considered adding more videos to your blog posts to keep the visitors more engaged? I just read through the entire page and it was very good but since I am more of a visual learner, I find videos to be very helpful. I enjoy what you guys are always up too. Keep up the excellent work. I will return to your page on the regular for some of the latest post.
